All recipes use a 12-inch dutch oven, unless specified.
If you have a 10-inch dutch oven, use about 2/3 to 3/4 of the ingredient amounts but keep the temperature and time about the same.
If you have an 8-inch dutch oven, use about 1/2 of the ingredient amounts but keep the temperature and time about the same.
If no temperature is listed, use 350 degrees.
See Heat Settings page for temperature and coal placement
for Frying, Stewing, Roasting, Baking, and Simmering.

I chose the Witches Brew as my first meal to prep in my first DO,
while camping. I'm a vegetarian,  so I substituted the beef and
bacon with a soy based protien. I had people come over & ask "what
smells so good?" My husband, who never eats leftovers, sure did
this trip! Great recipe. Easy to learn the feel of how your DO
works. Easy to pack, prep, and store. Plus it was fun! Thanks Dude!
Oct 27, 2022 - RobWe have made Dutch Oven Witches Brew many times over the years
with our Fall bonfires. We loved it so much, it has become our
Fall/Halloween tradition. The recipe is spot-on and the only
thing we altered is that we use thick cut bacon instead of the
regular packaged bacon. Our family raves about it and when we
have a family Fall bonfire and Dutch Oven gathering, we ask,
Chili or Witches Brew? The vote is always unanimous for Witches
Brew! Thanks so much for this recipe!
