All recipes use a 12-inch dutch oven, unless specified.
If you have a 10-inch dutch oven, use about 2/3 to 3/4 of the ingredient amounts but keep the temperature and time about the same.
If you have an 8-inch dutch oven, use about 1/2 of the ingredient amounts but keep the temperature and time about the same.
If no temperature is listed, use 350 degrees.
See Heat Settings page for temperature and coal placement
for Frying, Stewing, Roasting, Baking, and Simmering.

I was really excited to find a Dutch Oven at an antique mall. It seems brand new but it's seasoned, which looks possible. I'll skip the price but all I see is R12 on it. It's a 12qt and now I'm dismayed because your recipes are for smaller ones. I think I can adapt.
I love your site and plan on getting another smaller one for the 2 of us. We do have a lot of kids who visit so we can make larger amounts in the 12qt. Just got the fire pit set up in the back yard and the fall weather makes me want to get out there and cook!

I like to try new biscuit recipe's all
the time, tried these today, everyone
liked them could not get enough, give
them a try you will like them too I bet.
Jun 02, 2021 - Sam GI made these into "mini" biscuits. They were delicious and were
done after 12 minutes. It fed about 5 people perfectly. Next
time, I would make them a bit larger and add more coals on top,
and fewer coals on bottom to get a more even golden brown
coloring.
